Job Overview:

A Steward plays a vital role in ensuring the cleanliness and efficient operation of the kitchen and dining areas in a hospitality or food service establishment. They are responsible for maintaining cleanliness standards, managing dishwashing equipment, and assisting the kitchen and serving staff to provide a seamless and sanitary dining experience for guests.

**Key Responsibilities:**

1. **Dishwashing and Sanitization:**
   - Operate commercial dishwashing machines to clean and sanitize dishes, glassware, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
   - Hand wash and scrub pots, pans, and other cookware as needed.
   - Ensure all items are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized to meet health and safety standards.
   - Handle and dispose of waste and trash in accordance with established procedures.

2. **Equipment Maintenance:**
   - Regularly inspect and maintain dishwashing equipment to ensure it is functioning correctly.
   - Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel.
   - Store clean dishes and utensils in an organized manner, ready for use.

3. **Kitchen Support:**
   - Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients.
   - Keep kitchen work areas clean and sanitized, including countertops, cutting boards, and food storage areas.
   - Help with the transfer and storage of food supplies and deliveries.
   - Ensure that kitchen floors and surfaces are clean and dry to prevent slips and falls.

4. **Tableware and Dining Area Setup:**
   - Set up dining areas with clean tableware, glassware, and utensils.
   - Arrange tables and chairs to accommodate guests and ensure a pleasant dining experience.
   - Refresh table settings and replace tableware as needed during service.
   - Clear tables and reset them for the next seating or meal.

5. **Inventory and Stock Management:**
   - Monitor and maintain inventory levels of cleaning supplies, detergents, and chemicals.
   - Assist in receiving and storing kitchen and dining supplies in an organized manner.
   - Report any shortages or discrepancies in inventory to the supervisor.

6. **Cleaning and Sanitation Standards:**
   - Follow all established cleaning and sanitation protocols, including the use of sanitizing agents and cleaning schedules.
   - Ensure that all areas of the kitchen, including storage areas and food preparation surfaces, meet health and safety standards.
   - Report any potential health hazards or safety concerns to management.

7. **Team Collaboration:**
   - Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, servers, and other team members to ensure efficient operation.
   - Assist other staff members as needed during peak service hours or special events.
   - Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

**Qualifications:**

- Previous experience as a Steward or in a similar role is preferred but not required; we offer training for motivated individuals.
