Cookhelper

The Cook Helper assists the kitchen staff in preparing ingredients, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently. This role supports the Head Cook and other kitchen personnel in delivering high-quality meals to our guests.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Food Preparation:

   • Wash, peel, and cut vegetables and fruits.
   • Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment, using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
   • Prepare simple dishes such as salads, entrees, and desserts.
   • Assist in preparing meats, fish, and poultry by cutting, trimming, and marinating.

2. Kitchen Maintenance:

   • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including cleaning countertops, floors, and equipment.
   • Ensure all food items are properly stored and labeled.
   • Dispose of waste and sanitize garbage bins regularly.
   • Wash dishes, pots, pans, and other kitchen utensils and equipment.

3. Assistance in Cooking:

   • Assist cooks and chefs in cooking and plating dishes.
   • Monitor food stocks and report shortages to the head cook or kitchen manager.
   • Assist in setting up and breaking down workstations.

4. Health and Safety:

   • Follow all safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a clean and safe work environment.
   • Adhere to food safety regulations and ensure food is stored and handled properly.
   • Report any kitchen equipment maintenance issues to the supervisor.

5. Team Collaboration:

   • Work cooperatively with kitchen staff to ensure timely preparation of food items.
   • Assist in training new kitchen helpers and staff as required.
   • Participate in kitchen meetings and training sessions.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience in a kitchen or food service environment is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and cooking techniques.
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Good physical condition to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.

Working Conditions:

• Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Physical demands include standing, walking, and participating in recreational activities.
